Welcome to the Woodford Neighbourhood Forum website.

We are delighted to report that an overwhelming majority of voters voted Yes to the Woodford Neighbourhood Plan, so it will now be used by Stockport Council to help decide planning applications in the Woodford Neighbourhood Area.

In detail the results were:

Number of eligible voters: 1171

Number of votes cast: 452, which represents a 38.6% turn-out

Number of Yes votes: 433  (95.8%)

Number of No votes: 19 (4.2%)

Number of rejected ballot papers: 0

We have done better than average with this result.  The May 2019 edition of the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government Neighbourhood Planning Newsletter provides the following information:

Over 750 successful neighbourhood planning referendums have taken place across the country.

The average turnout is 32%

The average ‘yes’ vote is 89%.

Thank you to members who have supported the management committee, including responding to all the various consultations along the way, attending AGMs and helping with flyer delivery.

The Plan aims to protect the openness of the Green Belt, rural character, community facilities, views and natural features in the Woodford Neighbourhood Area, whilst allowing limited, small-scale housing and employment development that is in keeping with its character.

The Forum was formally approved by Stockport Council on 17th October 2013. Woodford Neighbourhood Forum (WNF) was formed, principally, to encourage responsible development in Woodford whilst protecting the Green Belt. In 2018, it was redesignated by the council for a further five years until October 2023.

Please have a good look round the website, you will find full details of how the Forum began, its constitution, how it operates, what is going on right now and what plans for the future look like.

We would love to keep you informed via email, (being a resident of Woodford is by no means obligatory) so if you would like to receive updates, please complete the signup form. We can assure you that WNF will not part with your details to third parties.

Our Facebook and Twitter pages are also kept up to date with the latest news.
